There are thousands of reusable market bags in the world. Some have logos, are decorative, plain, functional and non functional. But what is the “ideal” market bag? I started out with a list of elements and then embarked on making a few bags and trying them out.

My Ideal Market Bag

1. Washable

2. Sturdy

3. Large and deep enough but not too big - 15 x 15 seems like a good size as I need to be able to carry it when fully loaded

4. Combination of shoulder and short straps (adjustable strap?)

5. Inside zippered pocket for money, wallet etc

6. Outer side pocket for phone for easy access

7. Outer front pocket(s) - to hold re-usable produce bags

8. Inside top loop - to hold carabiner for keys so they don’t fall to the bottom of the bag

9. Outside strap(s) to hold a bouquet of flowers outside the bag so they won’t be crushed by produce.
